The mission of The Outer Banks Hospital is to enhance the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Dare County and the surrounding region by providing the highest quality healthcare services. Designed to meet the health needs of the Outer Banks community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season, The Outer Banks Hospital also offers two convenient Urgent Care Centers.

The Outer Banks Hospital Urgent Care Centers specialize in high quality care for minor care issues. The Southern Shores location is open seven days a week. Appointments are not necessary. They offer walk-in medical care for illnesses and conditions varying from sprains and cuts to fish hooks and sore throats.
